“… Enter as a whole into salm … ”
Quran 2:208
Salm or silm is an Arabic word which means: “the removal of that which is harmful outwardly and / or inwardly.”
And amongst that which is harmful is terrorism.
There is no agreed definition of terrorism yet, but so far, we have the following from a UN document:
“[A]cts intended or calculated to provoke a state of terror in the general public, a group of persons or particular persons for political purposes are in any circumstance unjustifiable, whatever the considerations of a political, philosophical, ideological, racial, ethnic, religious or any other nature that may be invoked to justify them.”
Amongst the forces of good, it is agreed that acts that intend to create fear in the public are abhorrent and need to be resisted and repelled.
It is not just a middle eastern problem; it is a universal problem. Those forces of good and for peace need to reach out to each other and work on bringing about a lasting peace on this earth.
