A path for the living

A man known as Hatim alAsam [died 237 Hijra / ~851 CE] from Balkh said:
“If you want to walk our path then you must take on four attributes of death:
1. White death
2. Black death
3. Red death and
4. Green death
As to the white death, it is hunger;
The black death is the ability to withstand pain caused by people;
The red death is the ability to oppose one’s unlawlful desires;
And the green death is to ‘wear patched materials one on top of the other’.

The reach of a healthy heart

“They all worship You out of fear from Fire,
And they see being saved a great fortune;
Or to dwell in Gardens and be privileged,
With castles and drinks from fountains;
I seek no share in Gardens or Fire,
I seek no replacement to my Beloved!”
