If you were to ask, what does the word “Jesus” mean in English, you will be met with silence. For this word is from Palestine. It is a foreign word that migrated to these shores centuries ago.
It is agreed upon that his message was in Aramaic, a sister of Arabic.
If you refer to a famous Aramaic sentence and its equivalent in Arabic, you will see a striking resemblance between the two spoken languages.
See for yourself:
“Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani” in Aramaic.
“Elahi, Elahi, lema taraktani” in Arabic.
It is like two dialects belonging to the same language.
However, I doubt, Issa (Jesus) uttered the above. For it means: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”. Why?
God (Allah) does not forsake his messengers.
And the meaning of his name hopefully will shed more light on the answer.
I was surprised to read that “Isho” is his name in Aramaic but it is rendered with Latin characters. One must bear in mind that ayn (ع) is a sound not used in English and hence not represented with a letter. They will use “I” or “A” to render it into English. For example, “عراق” is “Iraq” in English.
So, it is very much possible that his name would be rendered as follows in Arabic: “عيسو” (Isoo).
Notice, I used the letter “s” (س) for it is a lot softer and some people do pronounce it as “sh”(ش).
For example, the name “Ines” is pronounced “Inesh” by some inhabitant of the Iberian Peninsula.
It is also surprising to know that his name is “Iosa” in Irish and Scottish.
Now, if you want certainty, why not read the Quran.
His name in the Quran is “عيسى” (Isaa).
It contains two elongated consonants “ع” and “س”.
“ع” is about understanding and seeing the reality of things. It is elongated to give it depth.
“س” is about softness and subtleness. It is also elongated to give it depth.
Hence, Isaa, peace be upon him, had deep knowledge and was soft in his approach. A softness of water that gives life and that would expose the materialists around him. For they were wolves disguised as priests.
It is therefore of no surprise to read that an extremist called Caiaphas with the help of his ilk worked tirelessly to remove him.
The battle continues till the end of times.
A summary of Isaa’s life is indeed presented in the Quran:

[And mention] when the angels said, “O Mary, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Isaa, the son of Mary – distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to Allah].
She said, “My Lord, how will I have a child when no man has touched me?” [The angel] said, “Such is Allah; He creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.
And He will teach him writing and wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel,
And [make him] a messenger to the Children of Israel, [who will say], ‘Indeed I have come to you with a sign from your Lord in that I design for you from clay [that which is] like the form of a bird, then I breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by permission of Allah. And I cure the blind and the leper, and I give life to the dead – by permission of Allah. And I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your houses. Indeed, in that is a sign for you, if you are believers.
And [I have come] confirming what was before me of the Torah and to make lawful for you some of what was forbidden to you. And I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear Allah and obey me.
Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is the straight path.”
But when Isaa felt [persistence in] disbelief from them, he said, “Who are my supporters for [the cause of] Allah?” The disciples said, “We are supporters for Allah. We have believed in Allah and testify that we are Muslims.”

But even Saint George, whose patronages exist around the world, is a Palestinian.
